I think it might be an idea to come up with a list of accepted genre fields for the catalogue. SCIS as far as I am aware does not import GENRE into the SCIS record so we will need to add them ourselves. At Junior we would like to utilise this field. Having a common list will help to ensure consistency across both campuses. What does everyone think?

As discussed last term we will have our library meetings when the Year Level Meetings appear on the calendar. That means our next meeting will be on Tuesday 5 May at 3.30pm. We’ll have it at the Senior Campus…or could we attempt a Live meeting using Communicator?
Please comment here with any agenda items.
Videos/DVDs
SC videos have been organised into broad deweyish areas, DVDs separately. Will eventually recombine but not a priority.
Suggestion to use broad dewey number plus first 3 letters of first title. Process of agreeing on dewey numbers for specific topics to ensure consistency across campuses.
How do we find time to do it properly?
Recall? Spread over the term eg one hour per night.
What is the best approach.
Staffing issues
Wendy unlikely to be replaced.
Ideas for extra help: CRTs with extra time, volunteer parents – shelving for an hour, taking home covering etc. – Heather to create an attractive ad for next school newsletter
Agreed to to take notes of jobs done for a week. Tomorrow (Wednesday) we will all make some notes with a view to creating a tick sheet to make the task easier to achieve. Plan is to prioritise what we can and can’t do – most important will be tasks related to student educational outcomes.
Rebecca and I thought we might need to discuss the new Genre field that has come with the new bibliotech update. We think it is worth using, we might need to come up with a list of genres that will be appropriate.
Also we have discussed adjusting the Dewey field for AV resources. We have several of the same camera at junior and it is not always easy to identify which one is which. Thought we could add a year in the dewey. Not sure about this one though…

The school needs to keep a copy of all letters that are printed on school letterhead. With this in mind Carissa and I came up with an alternative process. Instead of us printing the letter and passing it onto the teacher we should now email the file to her (or Marg D at junior). Marg/Carissa will then print the letter, get the appropriate campus principal’s signature, make a photocopy of the signed letter for school records, and then pass the letter onto the teacher for them to sign, photocopy and distribute. Teachers will need to be aware that the process may take a little longer now, especially at junior as Marg is part-time.
I have documented this in the procedures manual. One other change, please name these files with the teachers initials and the name of the film eg HBL Gattaca.doc.

Continental Books will be dropping off books at the senior library on Tuesday 17 February and collecting on Thursday 19 February. Marian said she doesn’t have much junior stock so it’s not worth a separate visit to juniorland however she will put what she has in and Bron can look at it on Tuesday.
Little Bookroom will be dropping off boxes at both libraries on Tuesday 24 February for pick up that Thursday.
If you have any specific or general requests for either bookseller please let them know.
Little Bookroom: 9387 9837 or books@littlebookroom.com.au
Continental Books: 9824 7711
The library telephone list needs some updating. Can everyone have a look at the printed version and comment here with any changes/new numbers etc. Rebecca will then update the document and print one copy for each library.

Hello and welcome back! I’m very excited to be back…truly, well… Anyway, back we are so we’d better get on with it, 40C or not.
I’d like to have a meeting after morning tea. These are the topics I’ve come up with so far:
Timetables
Orientation year 7, year 10, new staff
New library assistant/what are we doing till we get one??
Updating Bookit
Stocktake results
I’m sure there is plenty more but my brain isn’t quite back yet!

Having a pedicure on a boat in the South China Sea
Weeding of fiction is done along with stocktake and completed today. Valerie checked all books that were placed aside and O.K it.
I have limited the due date by level on Bibliotech. Year 7 & 8 are 5 December, year 9 & 10 27 November. We need to remember to reset them to next year’s dates at the end of this year.
